
Strategic Advisor for Indigenous Community Development

This role presents an opportunity to join a team of Child Protection and Wellbeing experts. The Aboriginal Consultant Officer will conduct Child Protection and Wellbeing risk appraisals and assist NSW Health workers in responding to vulnerable children, young people, and families.
The position involves providing specialist advice and support to the team while engaging with stakeholders to increase confidence, awareness, and appropriate responses to Aboriginal children and families for early intervention to prevent escalation into the statutory system.
To succeed in this role, you will have expertise in working with Aboriginal communities and experience in providing guidance on child protection and wellbeing matters.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct Child Protection and Wellbeing risk appraisals
- Assist NSW Health workers in responding to vulnerable children, young people, and families
- Provide specialist advice and support to the team
- Engage with stakeholders to increase confidence, awareness, and appropriate responses to Aboriginal children and families
- Expertise in working with Aboriginal communities
- Experience in providing guidance on child protection and wellbeing matters
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
This is an identified position under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Only suitably qualified Aboriginal people are eligible for this position and are encouraged to apply. This recruitment may be used to create an Eligibility List for similar roles in the future.
