General Maintenance Handyman

We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Handyman to join our team at our Retirement Village in Mandurah. The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking general maintenance tasks, ensuring resident comfort and safety.

  • Undertake minor repair jobs, including changing light fittings and globes, inspecting and fixing roof tiles and gutters, performing basic plumbing repairs and replacements, and assisting with moving larger items.
  • Test and reset ECS units, fault find and repair of village gates, provide after-hours on-call support, maintain and test the village swimming pool, keep fish ponds clean, including filters, pumps, and UV lights.
  • Ensure the perimeter fencing is free of graffiti and excess rubbish, and attend to the general maintenance and cleanliness of external areas.
  • Liaise with and coordinate external tradesmen for complex maintenance issues, and ensure safe work practices at all times.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills.
  • A pleasant, patient, and calm manner when working with older people.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks within required timeframes.
  • The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • A current driver's license.
  • A valid Test and Tag Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • A valid Police Clearance issued within the last 90 days.
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination.
