About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Community Support Specialist to join our team and contribute to the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program.

">

This program provides free nonclinical, community-based supports aimed at facilitating and maintaining recovery for people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness.

">

As a Community Support Specialist, you will offer one-on-one and group support (in some areas) to assist recovery, build skills for independent living, and help participants contribute to their communities.

">

This position is a Maximum Term (2 yrs) Part Time (3days a week) role located in Tamworth.

">

You will be required to travel across the region.

">

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Support individuals with mental health issues to access the community">
  • Provide case co-ordination for individuals">
  • Establish positive relationships with clients, staff, and other organisations">
  • Promote services in a positive manner">
  • Assess client safety, planning, and intervening where appropriate">
  • Reporting – ensure that reports are prompt and an accurate record of observations, risks, interactions and dynamics">

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • ">
  • Tertiary education, Cert 3 or above in social work, psychology/community services/mental health">
  • NSW Drivers licence">
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and the impacts it has on a person’s life">
  • Skills in establishing rapport, respectfully communicating expectations and being assertive">
  • Experience relating to and building rapport with people">
  • Knowledge of child protection system and knowledge of NDIS is an advantage">
  • Excellent observation, written and verbal communication skills">
