The Role
As a Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Officer with the Australian Government Department of Defence, you will play a critical role in protecting Defence locations from listening and recording devices. You will conduct technical security inspections, provide technical security advice, and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the security of Defence information and assets.

About the Team
The TSCM team sits within the Defence Security Division in Security and Estate Group. It is a high-tempo team that conducts technical security inspections at Defence locations across Australia and internationally. The team's technical security inspections identify the presence and location of eavesdropping devices, highlight technical threat vulnerabilities, and provide assurance that a particular area is not subject to covert technical surveillance operations.

Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting technical security inspections to identify and mitigate technical threats
• Providing technical security advice to Defence personnel and stakeholders
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the security of Defence information and assets
• Leading small teams for domestic and international security operations and being accountable for team logistics and reporting

Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role is a highly skilled and motivated professional with a strong background in technical security, proven experience, and a thorough understanding of electronic surveillance methods and countermeasures. You will possess a competent technical background enabling you to proficiently use a suite of electronic equipment and employ searching techniques. You will also require:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interpret and convey security policy information and technical security advice to diverse audiences
• Extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Lead small teams for domestic and international security operations and be accountable for team logistics and reporting

What We Offer
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
