The Role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Peer Practitioner to join our Safe Haven team. As a Mental Health Peer Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with our team and draw from a strengths-based recovery-oriented service of care. You will act as a role model towards recovery for people experiencing mental illness, utilizing your personal experience of mental illness to engage with clients.

  • Work collaboratively with the Safe Haven team to provide holistic care to individuals experiencing mental illness.
  • Draw from a strengths-based recovery-oriented service of care to promote recovery and resilience in clients.
  • Act as a role model towards recovery for people experiencing mental illness, utilizing your personal experience of mental illness to engage with clients.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Safe Haven team to deliver high-quality care to clients.
  2. Utilize your personal experience of mental illness to provide empathetic and non-judgmental support to clients.
  3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Has experienced mental illness and has demonstrable experience of recovery.
  • Previous work experience in administrative roles and using databases and computer systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
  • Drivers Licence.
  • Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC).
  • Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft Suite of software and databases.
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or currently completing or a willingness to complete.
