The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water seeks an experienced specialist to deliver high-level executive services.

About the Role

This role involves supporting strategic initiatives, managing communications, and overseeing the implementation of both strategic and operational objectives in the field of energy transition.

The successful specialist will play an active role in forming strategic advice and managing projects to help transition to a clean, affordable, and reliable energy system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating incoming requests from senior officials, including identifying the most appropriate staff and reviewing responses for consistency with departmental guidelines.
  • Collating written material to support senior officials in meetings and correspondence.
  • Managing a team of three staff, including developing professional development plans and considering leave requests.
  • Informing senior officials about emerging issues related to energy transition priorities.
  • Managing internal policy projects and developing procedures to improve ways of working within the group.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have experience:

  • Coordinating tasks across different areas of an organisation.
  • Using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Managing people and project teams.
  • Developing energy and/or climate change public policy or government programs.
  • Serving as a specialist in a similar role.
