Job Title

We are seeking a skilled Community Midwife to join our team.

About the Role

The Community Midwife practices within a small team of healthcare professionals in the community setting, providing continuity of care to Aboriginal women throughout pregnancy and post-partum.

Emphasis is placed on safe, effective, and culturally sensitive care and education, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply midwifery practice according to national competency standards, professional conduct, and guidelines.
  • Comply with policies and procedures that have legal and professional implications.
  • Document patient information according to hospital standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legislation relevant to midwifery practice.
  • Recognize own limitations and refer to other healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Consult with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
  • You must be eligible for registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife.
  • Possess strong communication skills and commitment to quality improvement.
  • Hold a current C class driver's license.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of relevant acts, codes, and standards, ability to plan and assess performance, and commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
