Support Worker: A Role of Empathy and Expertise

We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team in providing care packages to children and young people in need.

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications, a current valid driver's licence, and the ability to drive MacKillop vehicles.

They will also have knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and related policies, as well as an understanding of trauma and its impact on children and young people.

Awareness of Aboriginal culture and values, and knowledge of current issues affecting Aboriginal children and young people, is also essential.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting keyworkers in responding to the emotional and functional needs of young people
  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote the personal skills of young people
  • Providing administrative assistance and maintaining accurate records
  • Engaging in recreational activities with children and young people
  • Collaborating with families, carers, and other stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
