Job Title: Senior Finance Officer

The Taxation team within the Department of Transport and Main Roads requires a key member to provide specialist taxation advice on Fringe Benefits Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Payroll Tax and PAYG no ABN withholding.

  • Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting Fringe Benefits Tax returns, Goods and Services Tax and Business Activity Statements, Payroll tax returns, PAYG no ABN withholding
  • Undertake research, analysis and investigation into complex taxation and financial management issues and problems and implement effective solutions, including reconciliation and management of tax related general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports using applications such as Excel, Word, Access or other financial management software.
  • Provide accurate, timely advice on operational issues, financial management policies, standards and systems.
  • Maintain and update procedures and work instructions.
  • Contribute to the capability of team members to sustain performance and meet current and future demands through teaching, coaching, teamwork and information sharing.
  • Act as a subject matter expert by contributing to the development and continuous improvement of systems and processes to enhance service delivery and improve the operations of the team.
  • Develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with clients, auditors, other stakeholders and management.
