Job Description:

The role of Regional Biosecurity Coordinator is a key position within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. This team leader will oversee the implementation of biosecurity programs that aim to prevent and respond to risks threatening Western Australia's agriculture, environment, and economy.

This involves managing projects and emergency responses, ensuring compliance with legislation and maintaining high standards of animal welfare and product integrity.

The successful candidate will coordinate surveillance and control of invasive species, investigate non-compliance, and collaborate with stakeholders to provide expert advice and contribute to policy and operational improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in biosecurity, providing technical knowledge and support, with a strong understanding of regulatory and inspection activities.
  • Well-developed knowledge of invasive plant and animal species that threaten the community, environment, and economy.
  • Proven project management skills, with strong interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
