Our client, a reputable Financial Services Firm, is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Specialist to join their team in Sydney. Key responsibilities include:

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and variances.
  • Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders, including investors and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including reconciliation of cash and securities positions.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely posting of transactions.
  • Calculate net asset value (NAV) for each fund and ensure timely and accurate NAV reporting.
  • Ensure management and performance fee have been calculated correctly.
  • Periodic review of financial accounts to identify and escalate any issues.
  • Submit and manage ATO payments related to the schemes.
  • Assist in preparing ITR working papers with tax agents and coordinate with tax agents for ITR lodgements.

Statutory Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns for the funds and trusts.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Address and resolve any issues identified during audits.
  • Fund accounting team development
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or CFA.
  • 5 years of experience in fund accounting or a related field, with a proven track record of managing complex accounting tasks.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with complex financial models.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess financial data and identify trends and issues.
  • Problem-solving skills to address and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, investors, and team members.
  • Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure financial data is accurate and reliable.
