Job Summary:

The Fisheries Compliance Officer role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the conservation of Queensland's marine environment.

About the Role

This position involves supporting enforcement, surveillance, inspections and investigations related to fisheries and habitat protection under state and commonwealth laws. You will provide compliance and extension services to fishers, small craft users and the community, promoting understanding of fisheries, habitat and boating safety.

You will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of relevant fisheries and maritime safety legislation, engaging effectively with clients, stakeholders and the public, providing informed advice and escalating complex issues as needed.

In this role, you will also participate in community education activities at public events, manage expenditure activities in accordance with financial delegations and collaborate with a team of professionals.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting enforcement, surveillance, inspections and investigations related to fisheries and habitat protection.
  • Providing compliance and extension services to fishers, small craft users and the community.
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant fisheries and maritime safety legislation.
