Lead Horticultural Manager

The City of Casey is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to lead the Botanic Horticulture team in delivering high-quality horticultural landscapes.

  1. Develop and coordinate horticultural works programs for Wilson Botanic Park and other high-profile landscapes, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

  2. Manage and enhance botanic collections, adhering to best practices and conservation principles to maintain the park's classification as a Botanic Garden.

  3. Oversee contract and project management for maintenance and capital works, including preparing specifications, evaluating tenders, supervising contractors, and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards.

  4. Provide strategic guidance to stakeholders through reports, grant applications, and policy development, demonstrating expertise in horticultural practices and principles.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. A tertiary qualification in a relevant horticultural discipline or equivalent experience.

  2. Demonstrated leadership experience working in a botanic garden or large public garden, showcasing ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  3. Proven experience in establishing and managing horticultural and landscape assets, highlighting success in asset management and preservation.

  4. Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and communicate complex ideas simply.
