As a Senior Civil Justice Lawyer, you will have the chance to shape services, mentor emerging lawyers, and deliver life-changing outcomes for clients in Victoria's most disadvantaged communities.
We are seeking an experienced civil lawyer who has significant knowledge in areas impacting people's fundamental rights, particularly in mental health, disability, tenancy, social security, NDIS and fines.
The ideal candidate will bring specialist expertise in VCAT and Mental Health Tribunal work, as well as experience in complex civil law advocacy, negotiation and dispute resolution.
About the Role:- Acting as a senior advocate in complex civil law matters, particularly in mental health, disability, tenancy, social security, NDIS and fines.
- Appearing in the Mental Health Tribunal, VCAT and other courts or tribunals as appropriate.
- Supervising, mentoring and building the capability of junior lawyers in the region.
- Partnering with health, social and legal services to address the intersecting needs of vulnerable clients.
- Contributing to law reform, policy advocacy, and community legal education to drive systemic change.
You will understand the complex barriers faced by disadvantaged communities and can work respectfully and effectively across cultures, including with First Nations clients.
