The Disability Justice Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities who are involved in the criminal justice system.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have:

  • Knowledge and experience in disability case management with strong report writing, assessment and planning skills;
  • Experience working with clients who have complex and multiple support needs;
  • Experience and/or an interest in the criminal justice system.

Key responsibilities of the Disability Justice Coordinator include:

Coordination and Support

• Coordinate support and services for clients involved in the justice system according to the allocation by the team leader by providing a comprehensive approach to decreasing the likelihood of the client reoffending.

• Conduct complex and advanced assessments, implement and review justice-based plans and reports, as well as goal-setting, monitoring progress, and referrals.

Operational Requirements

• Operate in accordance with legislation and departmental standards, exercising appropriate authorities and legal delegations pursuant to relevant legislation and other specific delegations and functions.

• Implement review of justice-related plans, programs, and services, ensuring an appropriate standard of care, supervision, safety, and support is provided.

Representation

• Represent the department at hearings in various courts, including the Magistrates', Children's, County, and Supreme Courts, as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

• Ensure all actions align with the department's policies and procedures.
