Role Overview
The Director of Transmission Engineering will be instrumental in driving revenue growth, formulating market strategies, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. This role requires leadership in partnership strategies and close collaboration with the supply chain within the practice. The Director will engage with AtkinsRéalis' global market leaders, particularly in Canada and the GTC, while overseeing project delivery support functions to manage daily processes and project execution.
Key responsibilities encompass:
Establishing trusted, sustainable relationships with our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) clients. Promoting best practices and a professional approach to Health and Safety and CDM within the T&D sector. Contributing to market strategy and the implementation of the annual business plan. Identifying and managing portfolio risks, escalating key decisions to the CEO as necessary. Supervising the performance of Project Managers and Project Directors as applicable. Achieving market revenue, profit, and practice demand in alignment with or exceeding set budgets. Ensuring a systematic approach to project reviews based on risk assessment. Overseeing business development and successful bidding processes to maintain a sustainable work pipeline. Leading our market proposition and thought leadership alongside our Win Work teams. Providing leadership, management, and technical guidance to the T&D team and its members. Ensuring compliance with AtkinsRéalis processes in bid execution, including Service Delivery Process and other governance frameworks. Managing the financial performance of projects within your portfolio, including P&L responsibilities. Directing recruitment, resource allocation, and development initiatives for key staff. Assessing market conditions and fostering innovation in services and technical methodologies to build a resilient market-facing organization.Desired Skills, Experience, and Competencies
Exceptional communication, collaboration, teamwork, and influencing abilities. Proven experience in leading high-performing teams and the capacity to build trust, influence, and motivate others. Extensive experience in financial and commercial management for large, complex project portfolios. Background in successful negotiation and dispute resolution. Experience in developing and securing bids and their governance. Knowledge of contractual, commercial, and project delivery aspects, including large, complex, and fixed-price projects. A comprehensive leadership and management background with demonstrable project portfolio management experience. Ability to lead and support diverse bid and project delivery teams. Strong attention to detail, with numerical acumen and the ability to blend experience with logic and detail-oriented thinking.
