Position Summary

The Director of Transmission Engineering will be instrumental in driving revenue growth, formulating market strategies, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. This role requires leadership in partnership strategies and close collaboration with the supply chain. The Director will engage with AtkinsRéalis' global market leaders, particularly in Canada and the GTC, while overseeing project delivery support functions and managing day-to-day processes.

Key responsibilities encompass:

Serving as the primary contact for establishing trusted, sustainable relationships with our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) clients. Promoting best practices and a leading-edge approach to Health and Safety and CDM within the T&D sector. Contributing to the overall market strategy and the execution of the annual business objectives. Identifying and managing portfolio risks, escalating key decisions to the CEO as necessary. Supervising the performance of Project Managers and Project Directors as applicable. Achieving market revenue, profit, and practice demand in alignment with or exceeding set budgets. Ensuring a structured regime of project reviews based on risk assessment. Overseeing business development and successful bidding processes to establish a sustainable work pipeline. Leading and owning our market proposition and thought leadership in collaboration with our Win Work teams. Providing leadership, management, and technical guidance to the T&D team and its members. Ensuring bid processes are conducted in accordance with AtkinsRéalis standards, including Service Delivery Process and other governance frameworks. Managing the financial performance of projects within your portfolio, including P&L accountability. Directing key recruitment, resourcing, and development initiatives for staff. Assessing market conditions and fostering innovation in services and technical approaches to build a resilient market-facing organization.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills. Proven experience in leading high-performing teams and the ability to build trust and motivate others. Extensive experience in financial and commercial management for large, complex project portfolios. Background in successful negotiation and dispute resolution. Experience in developing and securing bids along with their governance. Knowledge of contractual, commercial, and project delivery aspects, including large, complex, and fixed-price projects. A comprehensive leadership and management background with demonstrable project portfolio management experience. Capability to lead and support diverse bid and project delivery teams. Attention to detail, with strong numerical acumen and the ability to blend experience with analytical thinking. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional accreditations.
