
Aboriginal Cultural Practice Specialist

The successful applicant will lead the development, maintenance, and implementation of contemporary and innovative practice material to support excellence in service delivery to our First Nations clients.
This role requires an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person with a strong understanding of the complexities of cultural practice and its impact on the lives of vulnerable community members. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and community members.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Developing and implementing culturally sensitive practice approaches that promote the rights and interests of First Nations people;
- Providing expert advice and input into activities relating to Reframe the Relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
- Managing and overseeing projects that contribute to the development of staff cultural capability and improve services to First Nations Queenslanders;
- Identifying opportunities for continuous practice improvement and emerging trends;
- Contributing to the development of training material to support building staff cultural capability;
- Performing the role of secretariat for our First Nations Yarning Circle.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience or skills in practice development, cultural competency, and working with diverse communities. You will also have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
This is a targeted vacancy, and applicants must identify as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person. We encourage applications from experienced practitioners who are passionate about promoting cultural safety and improving outcomes for vulnerable community members.
