Culturally Responsive Role

We are seeking a culturally responsive and skilled Aboriginal cultural support specialist to join our team.

Job Purpose:

This role will focus on developing and implementing cultural support plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in Out of Home Care.

The successful candidate will work closely with children, young people, families, and relevant government agencies to ensure the effective implementation of individual cultural heritage components of the cultural support plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cultural support plans for children and young people in out-of-home care.
  • Work collaboratively with other stakeholders to ensure the identified goals within the cultural support plan are achieved.
  • Communicate risks associated with implementing or delivering plan goals to the appropriate manager.
  • Proactively drive 100% compliance with cultural support plans.
  • Build relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and community groups.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, culturally appropriate perspective.
  • Experience in managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Extensive knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in contemporary society.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environments.
