Wollongong, a vibrant coastal city in New South Wales, is seeking an Environment Communications Officer to play a key role in creating an extraordinary community. At the heart of this initiative is the delivery of exceptional services and infrastructure that benefits our citizens.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled communications professional to join our team and contribute to shaping the future of Lake Illawarra. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering targeted communications plans aligned with our environmental priorities.

The Environment Communications Officer will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive community participation and engagement around the Lake Illawarra Coastal Management Program (CMP). This includes creating compelling content for web, social media, and print that brings the CMP to life, analyzing engagement data, and preparing reports to inform strategy and decision-making.

\

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess solid experience and/or a relevant degree in communications, engagement, or environmental storytelling. Exceptional writing and editing skills are essential, as well as digital content creation expertise, including photography and video production.

You will also require strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams and build meaningful relationships. Strategic thinking and project management abilities are crucial to juggling multiple priorities and delivering impactful campaigns.

\

  • Solid experience and/or a relevant degree in communications, engagement, or environmental storytelling.\

  • Digital content creation expertise, including photography and video production, to bring environmental initiatives to life.\
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively across teams and build meaningful relationships.\
  • Strategic thinking and project management abilities, allowing you to juggle multiple priorities and deliver impactful campaigns.\
  • A current driver's licence and a sound understanding of WHS principles to support safe and effective fieldwork and engagement.\
