About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Planner to join our team in the Project Management Office service unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in coordinating the planning and design of capital works projects and public domain projects to enhance existing assets and provide new infrastructure across the City of Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the preparation of master plans, public domain plans, concept designs, guidelines, and technical manuals to ensure transition into practical and deliverable operational plans.
  • Lead and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to deliver agreed goals on time and on budget, to resolve challenges, and to effectively deliver value for money outcomes that achieve strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, developers, and other government agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
What You'll Need
  • Proven experience in project planning and coordination, preferably in a local government or infrastructure development context.
  • Strong understanding of urban planning principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
