Job Title: Book and Magazines Buyer

Join Frontline Recruitment, a leading retail recruitment agency, as a key player in our team. As a Book and Magazines Buyer, you will be responsible for crafting strategies to drive customer interest and align with their changing needs, while overseeing the P&L for the Books category and driving critical financial outcomes.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Strategy & Product Range Development: Develop category strategies to spark customer interest and align with changing customer needs, plan product ranges by demographic and location to maximise sales growth.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the P&L for the Books category and drive critical financial outcomes.
  • Supplier Relationships & Cost Management: Cultivate strong supplier relationships, negotiate to reduce costs of goods, prioritise first-to-market launches, and secure supplier marketing support.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed on market trends, customer expectations, and competitor activities to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Range Review & Product Optimisation: Continuously enhance the product offering through thorough range analysis.
  • Cross-Channel Communication: Build strong, open relationships with corporate and franchise stores through regular communications and visits.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Books and Magazine buying
  • Skilled in managing accounts and collaborating with large, branded suppliers
  • Strong negotiator, especially in cost, revenue, and promotional support
  • Commercially astute with quick market interpretation
  • Advanced analytical skills for data-driven decision making
  • Strong communication skills, able to influence and engage effectively
  • Solid understanding of P&L management
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting key performance indicators
  • Organised, proactive, and adept at time management
