Health Information Specialist Job Opportunity

This role is responsible for managing the coding process, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all data sets. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting audits, providing education, and monitoring performance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive coding audits to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance coding accuracy.
  • Lead and provide ongoing coding education to support team growth and professional development.
  • Prepare and deliver education and training activities to the coding team.
  • Educate clinicians on clinical documentation improvement, DRG, and activity-based funding.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Demonstrated auditing experience in a tertiary hospital with sound knowledge of audit processes and data integrity.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility.
  • Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards.
  • Knowledge of developing, designing, and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations.

About the Role

As a key member of our Health Information team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives and leading the coding team to achieve high-quality outcomes. You will work closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient coding practices.
