About This Role:

We're seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team and lead the on-site engineering function. Your primary goal will be to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

This is a critical role that requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices.

  • Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, including site engineers, project engineers, and cost/planning resources
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and materials, check work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget, record completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retain progress drawings
  • Produce accurate forecasts of costs and revenue
  • Participate in planning future requirements, including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant, and labor
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience working on rail/highway/bridge projects in Australia
  • 7-10+ years' total postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier-one contractor setting
  • Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports, including project and site engineers
  • Ideally, one experience as a Senior Project Engineer at minimum
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost, and risk
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety
