Lead Midwife in Women's and Children's Services

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking a Lead Midwife to join our Women's, Children and Birthing Unit on a part-time, ongoing basis. Based in Gippsland, this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead our Midwifery team in delivering high-quality patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and support with the clinical and administrative management of the Maternity Unit, ensuring the achievement of quality patient outcomes are achieved. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the workload capacity and will build and foster close working relationships with the Midwife Unit Manager, NUM, Hospital Coordinators, ANUMs, AMUMs, and other key stakeholders.

About the Role:

  • Provide leadership and support to the Midwifery team in achieving quality patient outcomes.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Maternity Unit, including workload capacity and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote best practice in midwifery care.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience in midwifery.
  • RANZCOG - Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP).
  • Excellent leadership qualities and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Competent in escalation and management of an obstetric emergency, including neonatal resuscitation.
