This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Collections Team at Darebin Libraries, a progressive and inclusive organization that values diversity and social inclusion. As a key member of the library leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining high-quality digital and print collections, as well as managing library branch operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and motivate the Collections Team to ensure a consistent and innovative approach to collection development and related services.
- Perform and lead branch leadership activities to ensure efficient and safe operations, well-presented facilities, and teamwork and communication.
- Develop and implement an innovative and streamlined shelf-ready approach for the management, ordering, and cataloging of print and digital library collections.
- Manage the performance of direct reports, provide performance feedback, coaching, and support, and implement strategies to enable professional development.
- Undertake front-of-house customer service shifts across Darebin Libraries' branches, including working one evening shift per week and a minimum of one rostered Saturday and Sunday shift in each 8-week cycle.
- A recognized degree or graduate diploma in Library and Information Management, with relevant experience in a public library environment.
- Role-model behavior in teamwork, collaborative practice, and customer-centric values-driven service, leading and motivating teams during times of change.
- Experience in strategic collection management through analysis, planning, evaluation, and reporting.
- Budgetary, contract management, and vendor liaison skills to ensure capital and operational purchases are managed in accordance with procurement protocols and within budget targets.
- Knowledge and understanding of library facilities management on a day-to-day basis and long-term planning.
- A current Working with Children Card is essential.
