Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to provide immediate assistance to victims/survivors of interpersonal violence in the Cairns region. The successful candidate will deliver trauma-informed support through phone and in-person crisis interventions, risk assessments, safety planning, and warm referral pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological first aid and emotional support to individuals in acute distress
  • Undertake risk and needs assessments, develop safety plans, and guide service users through warm referral pathways
  • Travel to designated locations within Cairns to offer in-person crisis support and coordinate practical needs
  • Work with people who have been impacted by violence, applying a trauma-informed approach
  • Navigate sensitive situations calmly and professionally, managing competing tasks within agreed timeframes
  • Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with stakeholders, including sector and non-sector partners

Requirements

  • Diploma or tertiary qualification in Community/Human Services
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in social and community services
  • Experience working with people impacted by violence and understanding of trauma-informed approaches
  • Valid (P) Blue Card and National Police Check facilitated by DV Connect
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Own a reliable, insured vehicle and possess a strong NBN connection
