Role Overview
Our analysts utilize extensive knowledge of major catastrophe models to navigate data and model constraints, delivering clients a thorough understanding of their portfolios. The team maintains regular communication with leading modeling firms, providing clients with detailed insights into model modifications and their potential impacts on outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering, processing, and analyzing client exposure and claims data using MS Excel or SQL to facilitate analyses;
- Employing catastrophe modeling software to evaluate clients' exposure to hazards such as earthquakes, cyclones, and bushfires;
- Reviewing clients' historical data to gauge their vulnerability to significant non-catastrophe losses;
- Applying reinsurance optimization strategies to devise reinsurance plans that enhance the likelihood of clients achieving their financial objectives;
- Effectively conveying findings to both internal and external stakeholders through written reports and presentations;
- Building strong working relationships with clients and colleagues;
- Contributing to innovative research and development initiatives.

Our catastrophe management team evaluates client exposure to disasters, models potential losses, and collaborates with actuaries and brokers to create reinsurance programs that effectively manage net risks. Additionally, we leverage our insights to enhance catastrophe reinsurance cost recovery and optimize overall portfolios.
Qualifications for Success
- Strong teamwork abilities, a curious mindset, and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, mathematics, or statistics;
- Familiarity with catastrophe modeling software is preferred;
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, along with a solid understanding of MS Word, SQL, and PowerPoint;
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Experience with Tableau or PowerBI is a plus;
- Background in insurance or reinsurance is advantageous;
- Knowledge of VBA, Python, or R is beneficial but not mandatory;
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform under pressure;
- Self-motivation to manage personal workflow and meet deadlines.
