Role Overview:

The Bureau of Meteorology plays a vital role in Australia's weather, climate, water, oceans and space weather agency.

Our work touches the lives of all Australians every day through observations, forecasts, warnings, analysis and advice that cover Australia's atmosphere, water and space environments.

Job Description:

This role is part of the Decision Support Services (DSS) Program under the Community Services Group (CSG), reporting to the General Manager DSS.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Emergency Management sector engagement and understanding customer needs to inform product and service design and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead EM sector engagement and understand EM sector customer needs
  • Coordinate cross-functional team activities within the DSS Program
  • Manage external committees and provide secretariat functions for the national Hazard Services Forum
  • Provide 7-day-a-week operational decision support and related services to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) National Situation Room

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience in emergency management and be able to lead cross-functional teams.

Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
