About the Role

This role will oversee the General Services team at UNSW Australia. You will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:

  • Management of General Services including budget preparation, staff management, contract management and strategic planning.
  • Ensure that operations under area of control are conducted in a way that provides a high level of service to the University while minimising disruptions to university operations.
  • Manage service contracts within area of control including contract and specification development, procurement and performance monitoring and management, to deliver high standards of performance, compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage the unit within budgetary constraints, including contributing to the preparation of annual budgets, reports, internal cost recoveries and resolving any financial issues as they arise.
  • Utilise the University's financial systems to manage and report on all financial processes associated with operations within area of control.
  • Develop and implement annual operational plans for areas of control including tracking and reporting on key performance targets.
  • Develop comprehensive business cases, submissions, papers, and other documentation that support strategic decision-making and provide valuable insights to stakeholders.
  • Manage all staffing requirements for direct reports including recruitment, training, delegation and performance management.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in managing related services, preferably in a campus, hospital or similar institutional environment.
  • Excellent leadership ability, with superior staff and contractor management experience.
  • Demonstrated organisational, financial management and reporting skills.
  • A strong track record in delivering quality customer service with a can-do attitude with demanding deadlines.
  • A strong track record in managing projects.
  • Superior organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to exercise judgement and use initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to establish effective workplace relationships
  • Strong computer skills in the use of standard office desktop software such as email, word processing, spreadsheets and internet applications, and facilities management systems
