PhD Researcher in Distributed Cognitive Electromagnetic Systems

This PhD project aims to investigate how multiple intelligent platforms, such as drones, ships, or aircraft, can autonomously sense, communicate, and adapt their behavior in shared and dynamic RF environments. The primary focus is on understanding the complex interactions between these platforms and developing novel strategies for spectrum awareness, coordination, and reliable operation in congested or contested conditions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python or MATLAB programming and a solid background in mathematical modelling, particularly probability, optimization, and multi-agent interactions. Additionally, expertise in machine learning, reinforcement learning, or multi-agent systems is highly desirable. Familiarity with signal processing, spectrum sensing, localization, or radio environment modelling is also beneficial.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating novel algorithms and techniques for distributed cognitive electromagnetic systems. They will work closely with our research team to ensure seamless integration with existing projects and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for real-world applications.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB
  • Mathematical modelling: probability, optimization, or multi-agent interactions
  • Machine learning: reinforcement learning, or multi-agent systems
  • Signal processing: spectrum sensing, localization, or radio environment modelling
  • Multi-agent systems: distributed intelligence, communication-limited cooperation, or swarm behavior

Benefits and Opportunities: This PhD project offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of research and development in distributed cognitive electromagnetic systems. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative research environment, working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to cutting-edge projects. Our team is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, fostering creativity and innovation.

Project Requirements: The successful candidate will need to commit to a minimum of 3 years of full-time research and study. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, physics) is required. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.
