We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Policy Advisor to join our team at the Australian Public Service Commission. As an Assistant Director, Commonwealth State Engagement, you will play a critical role in developing strategic policy advice and assisting in a wide range of work to promote positive Commonwealth-State relations and progress key reform policies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Provide Strategic Policy Advice: Provide high-quality written materials, analysis, and advice on complex matters relating to disability and NDIS reform, including Ministerial Submissions, Departmental briefings, Cabinet Submissions, minutes, and correspondence.
- Build and Maintain Relationships: Identify, build, and maintain relationships within the department, the NDIA, Central Agencies, other Commonwealth Departments, and state and territory governments who all have a role to play in progressing the NDIS and broader disability system reform agenda.
- Lead Policy Development: Lead the development of policy papers, governance papers, talking points, and briefing material to support engagement with states and territories.
- Represent the Department: Represent the Department at meetings with internal and external stakeholders, helping to foster positive relationships, and prepare for, attend, and articulate linkages and intelligence received from meetings.
- Support Multilateral and Bilateral Meetings: Prepare for and attend multilateral and bilateral meetings with state and territory governments, as required.
- Be Responsive and Flexible: Be responsive and flexible in a fast-paced reform environment.
