Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled leader to take on the role of Supervisor Mechanic for our afternoon shift. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead a team of proficient technicians within the newly established Fleet Services Branch.

The role of a supervisor is dynamic and presents various challenges. Each day will be unique, requiring you to motivate and guide your team to ensure the effective maintenance of our internal fleet, which includes heavy vehicles, civil machinery, and specialized equipment crucial for the operations of the City of Ipswich.

You will collaborate closely with the Day Shift Supervisor Mechanic to ensure seamless communication regarding ongoing tasks and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical guidance and assist in developing maintenance specifications for all vehicles and equipment.
  • Oversee the completion of necessary documentation, including worksheets, registers, and requisitions, ensuring adherence to corporate standards.
  • Manage mechanical workshop operations, supervising employees, contractors, apprentices, and trainees to deliver efficient services to council assets and customers.
  • Foster a safe and positive workplace culture within the workshop environment.

What We Offer

As a result of our growth, we are offering a full-time afternoon shift supervisor position with a competitive starting rate of $41 per hour, plus superannuation up to 12.5%.

  • 9-day fortnight: Enjoy every second weekend off.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Mechanical Trade qualification with relevant experience.
  • A valid Driver's License corresponding to your trade qualification (minimum C class).
  • A White Construction Card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory capacity within a mechanical setting.

  • Pre-employment medical examination (including drug and alcohol testing).
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
