Staff Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional to make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist consultation services, including outpatient care, and participating in after-hours services and rosters in general medicine. They will also provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues, ensuring a high standard of patient care that conforms to best practice and is evidence-based.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist consultation services, including outpatient care;

  • Demonstrating a commitment to equity of health care delivery;

Requirements:

  • A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians;
  • Demonstrated experience and qualification(s) in General Medicine;
  • Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership, a commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health, and willingness to participate in clinical research;
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance to promote quality and safety in health care, with experience in and commitment to evidence-based best practice;
  • Demonstrated understanding of transfer of care and patient flow principles and ability to practice these principles to meet the needs of the community and hospital;
  • Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and proficiently in periods of high demand/activity;
