This is a senior leadership role within the Department, overseeing end-to-end procurement activities and leading a team of staff to deliver high-quality category management services.


About the Role

The successful candidate will possess a good understanding of tendering and contract management processes and be expected to develop and implement best practice procurement strategies and procedures that meet business needs, drive efficiencies and ensure consistency.


Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage and continue to build a team of branch staff who undertake end-to-end procurement activities, providing mentoring, guidance, development opportunities, on-the-job training and advice to branch staff and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Direction: Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the strategic direction of the department and relevant individual strategic initiatives, current department demand, end users' requirements, potential changes in future demand for products and services, supply markets, opportunities for product and service substitution, performance of current sourcing strategies, contracts and arrangements, and whole of government procurement strategies and initiatives that may impact the Department.
  • Strategy Development: In conjunction with key stakeholders, lead the development of strategies that deliver Departmental and Government objectives and priorities and minimise risk, including the development of plans for significant procurement.
