About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Consumer Policy Advocate to join our team at The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network.

Job Summary

This is a key role within our organisation, responsible for identifying and addressing consumer issues through policy development, research, and member activities. You will report directly to the Deputy CEO and be a primary point of contact between the executive and our policy team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the CEO and Deputy CEO in managing stakeholder relationships and developing strategic plans.
  • Equip, develop, and motivate policy staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively represent consumers' interests.
  • Monitor organisational performance and provide regular reports on policy activities and outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of positions, priorities, discussion papers, and submissions to government and industry bodies.
  • Represent the policy team in internal and external forums, including government inquiries, hearings, and community events.
Requirements:
  • You must have experience in a similar or related role, preferably in the communications, consumer, or community sectors.
  • You should possess strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to apply strategic thinking to complex analytical problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with stakeholders, including government representatives, industry leaders, and community members.
  • A passion for consumer rights, social justice, and fair markets is critical, as well as the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to emerging consumer issues.
