Job Description

This role plays a vital part in our Family Violence Team, providing expert case management services to women and children who have experienced family violence. Our Specialist Practitioner delivers high-quality support, utilising trauma-informed frameworks to address complex needs and behaviours.

The position requires extensive knowledge of family violence, including its impacts on individuals and communities. This expertise is applied through comprehensive risk assessments, safety planning, and case management.

The Specialist Practitioner supports clients living in the community or other forms of accommodation, including emergency settings. They provide client-centred casework, facilitating a multi-disciplinary team approach to respond to the needs of women and children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality case management services to women and children impacted by family violence.
  • Foster a collaborative response through a multi-disciplinary team approach.
  • Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop individualised case plans.
  • Coordinate referrals for specialist support services as required.
  • Support victims accommodated in different types of settings.
  • Work in partnership with families to develop and review case plans, ensuring active engagement and participation.
  • Provide advocacy on behalf of clients to access relevant supports.

About You:

  • Demonstrated tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Capacity to provide outreach case management, including risk assessments and responding to complex needs.
  • Experience working in the family violence sector, preferably with women and children.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of family violence and ability to apply theoretical frameworks to practice.
  • Ability to prepare written reports, maintain records, and data base reporting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' professional experience or relevant qualification meeting mandatory requirements.
  • Cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, having faced barriers to educational pathways.
