About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Professor to lead our Structural Engineering discipline at RMIT University. As a senior academic leader, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for the discipline, driving research excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage research teams and projects, developing and implementing research strategies to achieve academic excellence.
  • Teach and contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Structural Engineering, ensuring high-quality learning outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to the planning and strategic direction of the School of Engineering, participating in various committees and working groups to drive academic excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain strong research networks and partnerships with industry, government, and other academic institutions, securing funding and resources to support research initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior academics and researchers, mentoring and developing their skills and expertise.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying knowledge and expertise to inform teaching, research, and professional practice.
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, with a strong research track record and expertise in Structural Engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage research teams and projects, with a track record of securing funding and resources.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and build effective relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects and deadlines.
