Geotechnical Open Pit Engineering Position

The primary objective of this role is to provide technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, ensuring the achievement of development and production targets while maintaining a high level of safety, quality, and environmental standards.

This on-site position involves delivering geotechnical services by understanding, complying with, mentoring, and liaising to ensure adherence to statutory requirements and safety protocols related to ground control.

  • Collect and analyze geotechnical data, investigate rock fall events, and address ground control issues.
  • Perform daily geotechnical tasks, including mine planning, drill & blast planning, survey instructions, inspections, data collection, monitoring, analysis, and QA/QC.
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks, developing systems for monitoring and mitigation.

The ideal candidate will possess a completed bachelor's degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, or Geological Engineering, extensive experience in Geotechnical Engineering, particularly in open-cut mining, and familiarity with Rocscience Software suite.

  • Strong technical skills in geotechnical engineering, mine planning, and drilling operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on risk management and mitigation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing guidance and support as needed.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, or Geological Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, particularly in open-cut mining.
  • Familiarity with Rocscience Software suite.
