Community Development Leader

We are committed to enhancing the wellbeing of children aged 0-12 years in our community. As a key leader, you will play a vital role in our Communities for Children (CfC) program.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Managing community consultation and partnerships
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify strategies and develop service models
  • Leading a team in delivering community development activities and project work that builds capacity and drives service system development
  • Developing and monitoring contracts with community partners and stakeholders
  • Assessing the performance and effectiveness of services provided by community partners and CfC funded stakeholders
  • Participating in strategic planning, tender processes, and supporting committee meetings
  • Program administration, reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and facilitating regular consultative and collaborative processes

This is a maximum-term position funded until June 2026, subject to continued funding. The position may lead to a permanent role.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A strong understanding of the local community or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire
  • Passion, commitment, and belief in young people's wellbeing
  • Degree-level qualifications in community development, social work, human services, or similar, and a minimum of 3 years' experience in leading child and family initiatives
  • Demonstrated skills in community development and ability to build effective partnerships
  • Ability to enter into co-design processes with stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of child and family programs and issues impacting on communities
  • Strong understanding of culturally appropriate working practices
  • Experience in coordinating programs, including administration, budget management, and contract monitoring
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present data
