Work Health Safety and Environmental Officer

This is a challenging role within the Maritime Sustainment Divisions (MSD) Work Health Safety and Environment team. As a Work Health Safety and Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for undertaking a wide variety of complex tasks related to MSD's Work Health Safety and Environmental program.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver WHSE support and advice to Business Units, agencies and other departments.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining MSD's Safety and Environment Management Systems;
  • Monitoring internal safety compliance and assurance metrics;
  • Providing WHSE continual improvement of practices to mitigate risks;
  • Representing the Directorate of Maritime Work Health and Safety Environment as required;

To succeed in this role, you will need strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work in an integrated workforce consisting of ADF and APS.

You will also require:

  • A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • The ability to research and analyse activities to identify and address WHSE risks;
  • Fitness to work on and around maritime construction sites;
