About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Technical Officer to join our team, providing technical support and services to staff, students, and partners to enhance teaching and commercial objectives within the College of Vocational Education (VE).

The successful candidate will specialize in the Built Environment & Sustainability Cluster, maintaining technical facilities and supporting environmental fieldwork. This role requires working across a broad range of activities, both in the laboratory and in the field, ensuring that all facilities, equipment, and processes meet the highest industry and educational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical expertise to support teaching and commercial objectives within the College of VE.
  • Maintaining technical facilities and equipment, ensuring they meet the highest industry and educational standards.
  • Supporting environmental fieldwork, including water quality testing and plant identification.
  • Coordinating maintenance of equipment and field work.
  • Ensuring compliance with HSW and OHS legislation and regulations, particularly in regards to technical Laboratories and environmental Management.
Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Proven technical knowledge and expertise in maintaining technical Laboratories and environmental field work.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating maintenance of equipment and field work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of HSW and OHS legislation and regulations.
  • High communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Able to deliver flexible solutions to technical problems, preferably within an educational context.
  • Ability to work independently and within a dynamic team environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

RMIT University offers a comprehensive salary package for this role, estimated to be approximately $83,100 per annum, based on a HEW 5 classification and 17% superannuation.
