About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Specialist to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our financial lines practice, you will work on a variety of complex insurance matters, including professional indemnity, financial lines, and coverage disputes. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us deliver top-notch services to our clients.
Salary: AU$90,000 - AU$120,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have at least 3-6 years' post-admission experience in defendant insurance, with a strong focus on professional indemnity and financial lines. You will be expected to handle high-value, complex coverage disputes and have carriage of defence instructions for financial institutions, construction professionals, corporate service providers, and directors and officers (D&O).
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle high-value, complex coverage disputes
- Carry out defence instructions for financial institutions, construction professionals, corporate service providers, and D&O
- Provide coverage advice on complex issues
- Defend claims for insureds covered under various policies, including professional indemnity, directors and officers, management liability, and industrial special risks
- Manage files efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely completion of tasks
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-admission experience in defendant insurance (3-6 years)
- Strong focus on professional indemnity and financial lines
- Solid litigation experience in Victorian Supreme and County Courts, Federal Court of Australia, and VCAT
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Methodical and organized approach to file management
- Ability to manage own time, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to professional ethics
