Job Title: Head of Technology Management

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Technology Management to join our team in Taipei, Taiwan.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technology management function, ensuring the successful design and interface management of complex projects, including signalling and E&M turnkeys within the Asia region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning and coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams, including setting project goals, defining timelines and budgets, and allocating resources.
  • Liaison and interaction with central engineering function departments, including technical troubleshooting, engineering budgeting, and managing resource coordination and prioritization.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, requiring excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Monitoring and reporting project progress, keeping stakeholders informed about progress, milestones achieved, and potential challenges.
  • Managing project technical risks and contingencies, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks, and having contingency plans in place for unforeseen circumstances.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding client needs, and ensuring that designs meet their expectations.
  • Communicating project progress and challenges to clients clearly and concisely, building trust and keeping clients informed.
  • Negotiating technical aspects of contracts and agreements, including negotiating project scope, fees, and timelines.
Requirements:
  • Deep understanding of railway systems, including various subsystems such as train control, signalling, communications, power supply, and track infrastructure.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry standards and regulations, ensuring that designs comply with the latest changes.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into practical design solutions, communicating between engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems and providing solutions, finding solutions and ensuring project progress continues.
  • Contributing to business development efforts, identifying new project opportunities and securing funding.
  • Staying abreast of new technologies and innovations in the railway industry, continuously seeking ways to improve design and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10-15 years of experience in a similar business market.
  • Engineering Bachelor or Masters degree.
