Job Summary: Youth Access Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Access Worker to join our team at headspace Port Augusta. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing mental health services to young people aged 12-25, engaging and coordinating care, and advocating on their behalf.

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12‐25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples' wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively engaging, planning and coordinating care for young people that contact or are referred to the headspace centre. This includes assisting the processes for intake, assessment and review, dealing with enquiries and supporting young people to access services and provide a coordination of care to meet individual needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with young people and their families to understand their needs and develop care plans
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including general practitioners and allied health providers, to provide services to young people
  • Advocating on behalf of young people accessing headspace services
  • Providing culturally sensitive activities to engage young people in services provided by headspace
  • Delivering individual or group-based skills training activities

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated engagement with young people, particularly in areas of mental health and substance abuse intervention
  • Case management and care coordination experience within a team environment
  • Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or Occupational Therapy with training in Mental Health
