About the Role

We seek an experienced workshop leader to oversee HD Fitters on an 8:6 FIFO roster. You'll ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy mobile equipment fleet. Key responsibilities include workshop operations, team leadership, equipment performance, resource management, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily workshop activities, including preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and major component change-outs.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of HD Fitters, allocating tasks, managing rosters, and fostering a positive, safety-first culture.
  • Monitor fleet performance, identify maintenance priorities, and ensure all work meets OEM and site standards.
  • Manage tooling, parts, and consumables to support continuous workshop operations while controlling costs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in line with statutory requirements, company policies, and site safety procedures.
  • Liaise with operations, procurement, and management teams, providing updates on equipment availability, maintenance progress, and resource needs.
Essential Criteria:
  • Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering or equivalent).
  • Proven supervisory experience in a mobile plant workshop environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of mining or heavy earthmoving equipment, such as dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, and haul trucks.
  • Solid understanding of preventative maintenance systems, breakdown repairs, and component rebuilds.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
