Job Description

The role of the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities is a critical position within the school community. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school facilities, including classrooms, activity halls, and grounds.
  2. Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as clearing drains and gutters, collecting waste and recyclables, and assisting with cleaning duties outside of regular hours.
  3. Supporting security efforts by using and maintaining school security systems, banking funds, and locking and unlocking buildings.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities will also assist with a range of other duties, including coordinating the removal and disposal of rubbish, supporting significant events, and providing general assistance to staff and students as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess a range of skills and qualifications, including:

  • A Certificate III qualification or higher relevant to the tasks outlined, from a recognized institution under the Australian Qualification Framework or agreed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing requirements, identifying solutions, planning and coordinating cost-effective renewal projects, following documented methods and instructions.
  • Sound knowledge and compliance with regulations, codes and specifications relevant to the role.
  • Ability to perform activities consistent with workplace, health and safety guidelines and procedures with regard to government facilities.
Benefits

This is an OO2 progression position, with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification, with salary rate reflective of the OO2 to OO3 classification range.
