Executive Chef Opportunity

This is a high-profile role for a skilled and experienced chef to lead the kitchen team at Eureka 89. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in menu development, food safety, and staff management.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking all dishes for our six and eight-course Chef's Tasting menu and event canapés. They will maintain the highest standards of food quality and hygiene, and develop expertise in assigned specialties.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop culinary expertise and presentation skills by efficiently preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes, contributing to recipe development, and menu planning.
  • Ensure food is stored correctly with good stock rotation, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety, and monitor stock levels to assist with ordering supplies and minimize waste.
  • Manage and train junior chefs, sharing knowledge to enhance team performance, and collaborate with executive and head chefs for smooth kitchen operations.
  • Adapt to new tasks or roles as needed to support overall kitchen functionality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certificate in commercial cookery (preferred)
  • Provide first aid and CPR (preferred)
  • Food handling safety certificate (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement)
  • Knowledge of industry best practices
  • 1+ years' experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality food unsupervised, with knowledge of all sections
  • Able to ensure a kitchen meets all compliance and regulations, including hygiene and food safety guidelines
  • Appropriate knowledge of ingredients, cooking methods, and best practices
  • Able to show initiative to take on more responsibility
  • Monitor and train junior kitchen teams while supporting kitchen management
  • Good leadership skills, with a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, with high fluency in English
