About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the broader community in the school's educational work. This includes being innovative and creative in establishing systems and structures to foster academic development and improve students' social and emotional development.
As the Head of School, you will manage and maintain education practices that ensure a comprehensive educational program for all students in a remote community. This includes delivering best-practice education for students with special needs and initiating and leading the review of school policies to support the inclusive engagement and full participation of students with disabilities.
The school places significant focus on ensuring the voice of Aboriginal parents is reflected in the actions, strategic directions, and policies of the school. Understanding the educational and social challenges of a remote setting and being able to work in a culturally responsive manner is essential to this role.
About the School
The school is located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and services the Looma Aboriginal Community and the town of Camballin. The population comprises of three major groups; Walmajarri, Nyikina, and Mangala. The school enjoys magnificent vistas of the surrounding hills and rock formations that give Looma its name.
The successful applicant will be required to continue with the Aboriginal workforce planning, which provides career and employment pathways for senior students and Looma community members. The school has a policy of ensuring all families and Language groups are represented on staff.
