Overview

The Department of Education, Western Australia is committed to improving education outcomes in the Kimberley region. As a key member of the Kimberley Schools Project team, the Senior Attendance and Student Engagement Specialist will play a critical role in supporting schools to improve attendance and engagement among their students.

Salary Package

This is a fixed-term, full-time position with a salary package expected to be around $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, plus allowances based on location and employer contributed superannuation.

Job Description

The Senior Attendance and Student Engagement Specialist will support schools to develop and implement effective strategies to improve attendance and engagement among their students. This will involve providing advice and guidance to school-based attendance officers, as well as collaborating with Principals, SBAOs, school psychologists, and participation staff to identify and address barriers to student attendance.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in managing projects related to alienated and non-attending students, as well as high-level knowledge and understanding of current trends and issues in education. They will also possess leadership, analytical, and conceptual skills, with the ability to identify and clarify issues leading to the development and implementation of regional strategies and programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of current trends and issues in education in relation to alienated and non-attending students.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of Attendance Advisory Panels, including panel coordination, community and school engagement, Responsible Parenting Agreements, and the ability to deliver relevant training.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects related to alienated and non-attending students.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and conceptual skills illustrating an ability to identify and clarify issues leading to the development and/or implementation of regional strategies and programs.
